Raining Again..

So, today (which is rare) I'm not working until 5:15... however I have to stay there until like midnight, so kind of weird.. but I'm excited to see it late at night. I love Disney at night... basically one of the wonders of the world.. especially when they play the fireworks music and the countries are all lit up and magical. No matter how bad my day is, that walk from work to the bus through the promenade just gives me so much hope.

So, I think... next week they are closing down the movie. Therefore, no more movie in August and just Kidcot and telling people, "Sorry, movie's closed. Sorry. Sorry. Don't hate me. I know you waited your whole life and planned this whole vacation around seeing the film about people in flannel shirts... however.." Haha, and if it isn't enough, last night and this morning I had the song that they sing at the end of the film stuck in my head.. eeeehhh.. and the little elevator pop-y music we play in the pre-show and kidcot... Ehhh. Oh well, it could "It's A Small World" so, I am thankful.

Yesterday, Kody told me when I came on to work to entertain some people with a broken ECV until their new one got here because he had to go do some stuff.. so, I did and it was so much fun! I just asked about their trip and was really friendly and congratulated them on getting year of a million dream lanyards and then when their ECV came they thanked me by name and they were so sweet and I felt all glowy inside. It was great. Those experiences make the stupid guest experiences so much better. Gives me a little more faith in people.

Well, have to get ready for work... I have Thursday and Friday off.. but Thursday I have to wake up early and go get my social insurance number or something silly.

Update

Ah, so...

I finished my training. Woo. I had a day off and went to Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom with my parents and then got my banking set up. So, that was cool. Then Discovery Day on Friday which was long and boring and reminded me of school; we had to do "safety" courses online but they were basically like those WHMIS things we did all the time. Yesterday I worked..

I've memorized the spiels so I'm not even that nervous saying them anymore, which is good.

And.... just settling into the routine. I watched movies and sat on the computer all day, so this is my battery recharging mode and I'm glad that I can just do nothing for a day.

Derrick comes to visit in 25 days.

Downtown Disney

Oh, also, I need sunglasses. That should be on the list too.

Anyway, last night I went with my roommate, Marie from Norway, to Downtown Disney, because... well, first I was going to go with Eli but then he was going somewhere else and I was still psyched about Downtown Disney so I asked my roommate to come with (she's been here a month but never gone to downtown disney and only one of the theme parks) and she said yes. So, we went down on the 'F' Bus and it was so awesome! I forgot my camera, but I'll be sure to bring it next time (and there will be many times!) It was really neat, especially at night. There were lights everywhere and spotlights across the sky. Mostly just a big marketplace by this lake and Pleasure Island, which of course we can't get into because we're under 21. Oh, and Lego Land. :) That is pretty cool, as well.

So, my roommate and I had lots of time to talk and we became very good friends. She's so nice! We decided that we're going to have a tradition every week of going out and trying things at Downtown Disney, like having a dessert night at Ghirardelli or trying all the sandwiches at the Earl of Sandwiches and writing reviews on everything we try. It's so exciting. And we're also going to have cheap nights... where we drink smoothies or make mailboxes (we're making mailboxes to put on the walls so we can put letters or things in each person's box) or have a "sleepover" where we make popcorn and watch movies and such. We have DVDs but no DVD player, so we'll probably all pitch in 5 bucks for a cheap DVD player. Oh, and tonight is leftover night because we cleaned out the freezer (Oh my god, the last girl that was there put a diet coke can in the freezer and it exploded and she didn't clean it up... it was nasty, there were furry mold things.. disgusting!) and we found lots of food from the other roomie who moved out that is still good, so we're just going to potluck it for dinner tonight. There's cheese toast and veggies and lots of good things! Oh and the two Norwegian girls are going to make me Norwegian food sometime! Fish cakes with potatoes and oatmeal with rice. Weird but I'm so excited.

The girl from France is a bit standoffish. She reminds me of Sarah's friend, Jasmine. She's a dance teacher or a ballet instructor or something and she's really... French and elegant. But her luggage is still not here and she's always out with her friends from France that actually speak her language. So, I don't blame her for not really blending with the rest of us right now. But she's my actual roommate that is in my room, so I feel a bit awkward not knowing what to say to her.. Or how to go about hanging around my room when there's other people too... you know like... my room isn't really a private space anymore. But that's fine. Especially if she is out most of the time, I can have a bit more time to myself if I want it.

Okay, so... also, I may have an address you can send me stuff to. I went to the Front Desk to ask what exactly the address was and the lady was kind of rude and she's like "Well, just look in your information book" And I was like... "Uhhh... k." But I couldn't find anything... so, I'm just going to go with the address they put on my schedule. And HOPEFULLY, I will recieve what letters you send. But please don't send me big packages right away until I know that this address works for sure, okay? I don't want anything important to get lost in the mail.

I Made It

Hey guys,

I've been so busy I haven't had a chance to get to the internet until now.

So, it'll take too long to give you guys the whole play by play, but I'll do a quick summary... I'm in a Two Bedroom Apartment, which means I have three other roommates; two Norwegians and a girl from France who I share a room with. Everyone is under 21 which is really nice, because we have more in common. My roommate just arrived at 2 in the morning yesterday and her luggage is lost, which definitely sucks. She's from Nice, France which is so cool. One of the girls has been here 7 months and the other only one month.

We had some orientation today and just a run-through of the housing and security and we got our IDs. And free breakfast.

Yesterday was the Canadian initiation or "throw-in" and it was lots of fun! I guess I'm supposed to keep hush hush about it, but it was definitely an experience, anyway. But I did get to bed around 1:00, so it wasn't too bad on my sleep. I found out there's only 9 Canadians in Attractions so it's a really tight-knit group and they have a lot of fun so I'm really looking forward to joining the team. Ha. I have to buy hiking boots for my costume. It's really funny.

What else? I bought food at WalMart yesterday... that was an adventure. I'm still not sure what exactly my address is... I'm going to figure it out though so I can get letters and such, as well as send them out. Otherwise, feel free to e-mail, text, whatevs. At least, until next Friday when my parents are taking my phone back with them. By then I'm hoping to have a new phone that I can load minutes on to.

Today I am chilling this afternoon.... maybe heading out to Downtown Disney tonight... maybe not. We'll see. Tomorrow is more orientation stuff...banking, etc. And it's pretty much all day. But then Friday is my day off. (Woo!) And also when my parents come to visit. (Which reminds me, I may need to fill out visitor info...) Saturday is Traditions where I get to dress up in my business outfit and learn about Disney. There's also another day later on in the week called Discover Disney or something where we walk around the parks and stuff. But I get to start training on Sunday so I'm majorly excited.

Right now, I'm going to make a list of what I need from Walmart (because I need a lot..):

- lamp
- shower mat
- shower curtain (maybe?)
- soap
- more towels
- hand towels
- face cloths
- router/ ethernet cable(? - I have a cord in my apartment but it's uber short and keeps getting disconnected. Grr..)
- comforter(?)
- phone
- more food for quick breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, etc.
- shampoo/conditioner/shave gel/body wash
- laundry detergent (maybe? I have to see what my roommates have too..)
- post-it notes
- cork board/ white board (?)
- hangers (I think someone stole mine...)
- SUNGLASSES
- BLACK SOCKS (for work)

P.S.: I'm the only Canadian in our arrival crew of like 7 people that is in attractions. SPECIAL ME. Also... top secret, but they're supposedly updating the Canadian movie in August so... I may be moved to KidCot for a month.. FUN. Hehe.

9 Hours Until Blast-off

So, I am continually packing all day. I leave very very soon. However, I am on the flight with... at least four other Canadians going for the same program.

As soon as I know my address and new phone number I will let you all know. Feel free to send me care packages... with cookies. And um.... syrup? As a side note, if you send yourselves, please remember air holes.

My time in Calgary is being cut down increasingly. Only 12 or 13 days left... that's less than two weeks. So.... if I wasn't sick, I'd actually be quite excited to the point of jumping about and trying to get myself semi-organized. However, being that I am sick, I am spending my time snuggled up on the couch with hot tea and movies trying to recuperate. Well, that was yesterday. Now, Laura is (finally!) coming to Calgary after being delayed and my time is all going to her. So, Disney will have to wait until I am actually there to give it my full attention.
